Toledo Bend Yields a 14 lb. Bass

Sean Kennon of DeQuincy, Louisiana caught this 14 pound bass on March 2, 2019. Sean won't say exactly where he was fishing, but credits a Santone Lures football jig and thanks his cousin Matt Hungerford for netting the fish for him. This fish will be #11 in Toledo Bend's Top 100 Biggest Bass recorded and is the largest caught in the last 3 years. The lake record is 15.33 pounds.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 4)

FAIR. Water normal stain; 89 degrees; 3.57 feet below pool. Anglers can almost feel a touch of fall in the air first thing in the morning, unfortunately the fish have not felt this yet. Bass are slow with little to no early action, but the deep bite is finally seeing some action in 14-20 feet of water. Some reports of 12-18 fish caught up to 4 pounds, some some 8 pounders in the mix. The best baits have been Texas and Carolina rigged worms or big crankbaits. Expect the bass bite to improve as the cooler fall weather settles in. Crappie bite has been just fair. A few good size catches, but just not the numbers. These fish are coming on deep timber and brush piles with live bait. Report by Stephen Johnston, Johnston Fishing.
